“Minnesota nice meets Florida sunshine.”
Beach Bums puts a new twist on beach volleyball tournaments, with music, prizes, the support of the local community, a fun, lively atmosphere, and fundraisers for prominent charities or causes. Monthly tournaments consistently draw groups of local volleyball players, players from around the state and county, as well as decorated and accomplished players such as Ricardo Santos, Alvaro Filho, Rafu Rodriguez, Piotr Marciniak, and on the women's side Larissa França Maestrini, Pri Piantadosi-Lima, Sarah Schermerhorn Murphy, and Kim Hildreth.
Beyond supporting simply the player, Beach Bums also have a charity raffle at each tournament. This allows for a fun play environment and allows to raise money and give back to the community.
If you’ve ever seen The WannaBes at FUDS or an AVP event you know their outrageous outfits and their passion for the sport, The WannaBes turn every tournament into a celebration. Guessing how they’re going to dress is harder than getting a shot past Phil Dalhausser. Whether it’s a crew of Colonel Sanders cheering from the sidelines, or an homage to The American Gladiators, complete with Pugil Sticks, The WannaBes’ carefully selected themes are as surprising as any upset on the court.
"Seriously though, a WannaBe is simply someone who can find joy in playing the game of life, not just in winning. A wise WannaBe once said, “I may not have won the tournament, but I’ve never lost a party!” That’s our motto, though we may not win, we are going to have one hell of a time in whatever we do!"- WannaBes
